Film vs book

In the novel, Adam is a seventeen-year-old Warsaw schoolboy who spends the summer of 1937 at the Bejgoła manor near Wilno (today’s Vilnius), solving a riddle left by Colonel Kamil de Berier in 1813. The new film moves the hunt to a palace in Lower Silesia. The characters stay: Adam, Wanda, Professor Gąsowski, Staszek Burski, Father Kazuro and the colonel himself. Read the original plot in our chapter-by-chapter summary and meet the cast in the characters guide.
